Buying a Television or Video Deck

  • There are many types of televisions and video with different capabilities and functions, so they are quite expensive.
  • Some of the televisions you buy here in Japan can not be used in your country,threrfore when you purchase a television, make sure to check with the salesperson at an electronics store to set if it can be used overseas.

Watching TV in Japan

  • Television programs are listed in the newspapers. Among listed programs, there are bilingual broadcasts. -news in English, and movies in their original languages. In order to watch bilingual broadcasts and news in English, a television with bilingual capability is necessary.
  • With the installment of a parabola antenna and special tuner, satellite broadcasts can also be viewed. Cable television is also available in the most area of the city. A contract fee and monthly fee must be paid in order to watch these broadcasts.
